Campus Buildings
The Mount Isa Centre for rural and remote health was officially opened on February 3rd, 1999, by the Honourable Dr. Michael Wooldridge MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care, and the Honourable Wendy Edmond MLA, Minister for Health, Queensland. The Centre was funded by the Commonwealth in collaboration with Queensland Health.
The Centre has a fifty to sixty seat purpose built lecture room that can be divided at two points to yield two or three separate smaller lecture rooms, that can hold approximately ten and twenty people each. The Procedural Skills laboratory and the computer laboratoy are also housed in the main building.
The other campus is called Tarabada House, its located on 21 Isa Street, walking distance from the main MICRRH building campus located back of the Mount Isa base hospital grounds. This building houses the Research Unit and a fourty seat lecture room which can be divided into two.

Student Accommodation
Mounty Isa
The MICRRH has a 20-room accommodation block, 2 three-bedroom units as well as 8 two-bedroom flats with a double and two singles in each. All of the accommodation facilities are fully self-contained, with linen, cutlery and cookware provided.
The main 20-room accommodation block is located on Pamela Street, a comfortable 5-minute walk from the MICRRH, hospital and CBD. The complex is broken up into four pods of five rooms.
Each room is furnished with a desk and chair and built in wardrobe. Guests of each pod share self-contained kitchen, lounge room, bathroom and
toilet facilities. Access to the main BBQ area, Laundry facilities and off street parking is shared amongst all guests.
A Room Key deposit of $20 is payable to the Mt Isa Centre for Rural and Remote Health on the first business day of your stay. This deposit is refundable at the end of your stay provided the room key has not been misplaced.
All rooms are networked and have access to the Internet. Patch leads (to link up your notebook computer to the Accommodation network) are available from MICRRH along with a $10 deposit, which is refundable upon the return of the pacth lead at the end of your stay.
Food and groceries are not provided by MICRRH. Coles and Woolworth's are within walking distance of all the accommodation blocks. Most students in the past have shopped together and split the cost of a cab back to their accommodation.

Normanton

For student placements in Normanton, MICRRH's newly built, two-bedroom units are conveniently located in the hospital campus on Brown Street. Each unit has internet connection; these facilities are fully self-contained, with linen, cutlery and cookware provided.
Cloncurry

The MICRRH accommodation in Cloncurry has, 2 three-bedroom units, the student accommodation is located on the hospital grounds in Musgrave Street. These facilities are fully self-contained, with linen, cutlery and cookware provided. At current there is no internet connection at this site.
We encourage the booking of accommodation through your university student coordinators, though direct applications will be considered.
Upon receipt of an accommodation booking confirmation please make arrangements with the relevant staff at the Mt Isa Centre for Rural and Remote Health, for accommodation key pick up.
