Indigenous Health Worker Training in Mornington Island

Indigenous health workers from various communities such as Doomadgee and Mt Isa participated in the previous delivery
of Certificate III in Aboriginal Health Work.
Members of the MICRRH Indigenous Health Worker Education Unit, in partnership with North Queensland Workforce Unit(Queensland Health), will be
delivering accredited Aboriginal Health Worker training in Mornington Island in September 2005.
Traditionally, Aboriginal Halth Worker Students have come to Mount Isa to commence their training from communities like Doomadgee, Djarra, Urandanji, Kowanyama and even the Nothern Territory.
One of our major goals is to facilitate the develoment and articulation of education pathways for Indigenous health workers. Accordingly, we see the delivery of Certificate III level accredited Aboriginal Health Worker training to the Mornington Island Aboriginal Health Workers as a key strategy to achieve this goal.
