Professional Development Workshops at MICRRH

A session in progress...
MICRRH was recently involved in professional development workshops held by James Cook University. Two sessions presented by Dr.
Gavin Moodie were delivered via videoconference to the Mount Isa Centre For Rural and Remote Health.
Dr Gavin Moodie is currently Principal Policy Advisor in the Office of the Vice Chancellor at Griffith University, and appeared courtesy of the Association for Tertiary Education Management (ATEM - Queensland Branch) and the Equal Opportunities Unit of James Cook University.
The two sessions presented were: "How to survive your PhD" and "How to get published in refereed journals". Dr. Moodie has recently completed his PhD and counselled many current and potential PhD students in his first session. He provided tips on how to design studies for doctorate level research, how to deal with deadlines and negotiate with supervisors.
The second session - how to get published in a refereed journal was attended by academic staff and students eager for tips on the process of getting research results published. Dr Moodie has been editor on the Journal of Higher Education Policy and Management and so had some inside tips on how to present your work for publication.
