Successful Implementation of Physician Assistant Student Clinical Rotations

On Wednesday 14th March 2007, Associate Professor David J. Klocko delivered a presentation on "Successful Implementation of Physician Assistant Student
Clinical Rotations".
The talk focussed on clarifying what training and skills the Physician Assistants (PAs) being placed here will have, and what it is expected that they will gain and provide during their placement in this region. How to make PA placements work at a local level was also discussed, as was strategies to facilitate the smooth assimilation of the these students into the local health workforce.
David J. Klocko (MPAS, PA-C) is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Physician Assistant Studies. He has practiced as a PA in Emergency Medicine for 17 years and has been in PA education for 3 years. He completed his PA education and certification with a Bachelors Degree from King’s College, Pennsylvania, USA in 1986 and Master of Physician Assistant Studies Degree from the University of Nebraska, USA with a specialization in Emergency Medicine. His academic interests include access to care and improving PA clinical training.
